Russian forces struck a children's playground in the Korabelnyi district of Kherson at around 17:30 on May 27, killing the father of a family and injuring the mother and her two daughters, aged three and six, local authorities said.
The 36-year-old mother and her daughters suffered blast injuries and multiple shrapnel wounds and are under medical supervision, according to Yaroslav Shanko, head of the Kherson City Military Administration. Shanko reported the attack on Facebook.
"According to preliminary information, Russian terrorists killed the father of the family that is currently hospitalized — the mother and her two young daughters," Shanko wrote. He added: "A children's playground in the Korabelnyi district was apparently deemed a military target... It was next to it that Russian terrorists launched a devastating strike today."
The attack is the latest in a series of Russian strikes on Kherson. On May 22, shelling injured three civilians in the city, and on May 23, strikes killed four and injured 25 across Kherson and Kharkiv oblasts.
