Russia launches 123 drones across Ukraine, killing civilians and damaging infrastructure

Russian forces struck multiple Ukrainian regions with drones and guided bombs overnight, killing at least two civilians and wounding several others. The attacks hit residential areas, hospitals, energy infrastructure, and agricultural facilities.

Russian forces launched 123 strike drones across Ukraine from 6 p.m. on April 27, killing at least two civilians and wounding several others in a wave of attacks that hit residential areas, hospitals, energy infrastructure, and agricultural facilities, Ukrainian authorities said.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the drone barrage included Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types, with around 80 of the drones being Shahed models. Ukrainian forces shot down or suppressed 95 of the incoming drones. Hits were recorded at 16 locations, while debris from downed drones fell in four other areas.

In the Sumy region, the city of Konotop suffered a massive drone strike that damaged residential buildings, a hospital, administrative facilities, and the tram network. Konotop Mayor Artem Semenikhin reported disruptions to water and electricity supply. "Part of the city is without electricity. In one of the microdistricts, water will be supplied on a schedule: 6-9 a.m. and 6-9 p.m.," he said.

A separate strike hit the Yampil community in Sumy region, where Russian forces dropped guided aerial bombs. A kindergarten and residential buildings were damaged, and four people sought medical assistance.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, two men aged 40 and 45 were injured in a morning strike. Both are in moderate condition, according to the regional military administration.

In Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region, a first strike on infrastructure killed one man and wounded another, said Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city's military administration. A second strike on infrastructure injured a 52-year-old man. Dnipropetrovsk OVA head Oleksandr Ganzha later said five people were injured overall. "A 40-year-old man died. Five more men – aged 31, 32, 41, 45, and 57 – were injured," Ganzha said.

In the Chernihiv region, overnight drone attacks hit two agricultural enterprises in the Novhorod-Siverskyi district, setting grain storage facilities on fire. In the Horodnia community, strikes on the private sector caused residential buildings and outbuildings to catch fire. No casualties were reported there.

In Chuhuiv, Kharkiv region, one person was killed and another injured.
