Fire at power substation and energy company in Chuvashia amid drone attacks
A fire broke out at the 220 kV Kanash high-voltage substation in Kanash and at an office building of energy supplier Alatyr MO CHESK in Alatyr, Chuvashia, on Saturday morning. Residents reported hearing explosions before the fire. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have shot down 215 drones overnight across multiple regions.
A fire broke out at the 220 kV Kanash high-voltage substation in the city of Kanash and at an office building of energy supplier Alatyr MO CHESK in Alatyr, Chuvashia, on Saturday morning, according to the Astra Telegram channel's OSINT analysis cited by Ukrinform.
Residents of Kanash reported hearing explosions before the fire. No official information regarding the incident has been released.
Separately, residents of Veliky Novgorod reported numerous explosions on Saturday morning. Alexander Dronov, governor of the Novgorod region, wrote about the operation of the region's air defense system and urged residents not to approach debris.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said five UAVs were shot down approaching the Russian capital in the morning.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have shot down 215 drones on Friday night, according to the BBC Russian Service. The ministry said the drones were shot down over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Novgorod, Oryol, Pskov, Rostov, Smolensk, Tver, and Tula regions, the Moscow region, the Krasnodar region, as well as over the temporarily occupied Crimea and the Azov and Black Seas.
