刚刚,国防部发声!
On [Month Day], Wu Qian, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, responded to a journalist's question regarding Australia's hype about the training activities of Chinese naval vessel formations.
Reporter: It was reported that a Chinese naval vessel recently conducted activities and live-fire drills in waters near Australia. The Australian side accused China of lacking transparency, and Australia’s air traffic control agency issued a notice, which prompted some airlines to adjust their flight plans. What is your comment on this?
Wu Qian: The Australian side’s remarks are completely inconsistent with the facts. The training area of the Chinese naval vessel formation was far from the Australian coastline and was entirely in international waters. During the training, the Chinese side conducted live-fire naval gun exercises targeting the sea, with prior and repeated issuance of safety notices. China’s actions are fully in line with international law and common international practices, and will not affect aviation flight safety.
While fully aware of the truth, the Australian side made groundless accusations against China and deliberately hyped it up. We are deeply surprised and strongly dissatisfied with this. China hopes that the Australian side will view the bilateral and mil-to-mil relations in an objective and rational manner, show more sincerity and professionalism, and do real things that truly contribute to the steady growth of bilateral and mil-to-mil relations.
