Ukraine unveils Behemoth Shahed-style loitering munition with dual warheads
Ukrainian companies GLEFA and Culver Aerospace have unveiled the Behemoth, a Shahed-style loitering munition with a range of up to 300 km and dual warheads, at the Wild Drones exhibition. The drone is already in serial production and being deployed by Ukraine's Defense Forces in limited numbers, according to industry representatives cited by Militarnyi. It is designed for low-altitude flight to evade air defenses and supports autonomous, semi-automatic, and FPV control modes.
The Behemoth is classified as a “medium strike” category drone by its developers. It measures 2.28 meters in wingspan and 2.2 meters in length. The nose section houses a 40 kg high-explosive fragmentation warhead, while a 35 kg thermobaric warhead is positioned behind it.
The drone is designed for low-altitude flight profiles intended to reduce detection and interception by air defense systems. It supports autonomous, semi-automatic, and first-person view (FPV) control modes, reflecting Ukraine's broader shift toward flexible drone control systems adapted to electronic warfare conditions and mission requirements.
The development reflects how Shahed-type drones have become one of the defining weapons of the war. Russia has used Iranian-designed Shahed drones in large numbers for long-range strikes against Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure. Ukraine has responded by rapidly expanding its own strike drone ecosystem, using unmanned systems for both battlefield operations and long-range attacks on military and industrial targets inside Russia.
