Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) struck 46 Russian military targets over the nights of May 16-17, 2026, including an FSB border patrol ship near Kaspiysk in Russia's Republic of Dagestan, about 1,100 km from the war zone. USF commander Robert "Madyar" Brovdi said drone crews executed 186 fire strikes against assets in Russia and occupied Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. The hit on the Project 10410 Svetlyak patrol ship was the fourth Russian vessel struck in the Caspian during May 2026.
Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) struck 46 Russian military targets over the nights of May 16-17, 2026, in a coordinated drone blitz that included a border patrol ship of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) in the Caspian Sea, about 1,100 km from the war zone in Ukraine.
USF commander Robert "Madyar" Brovdi said drone crews executed 186 fire strikes against assets in Russia and occupied Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. The operations were coordinated through the USF's deep strike center, Brovdi added.
A Project 10410 Svetlyak-class border patrol ship of Russia's FSB Border Service was hit near Kaspiysk in the Republic of Dagestan on the night of May 16-17. Drone footage released by Brovdi shows the ship firing its onboard guns at the drone without success. It was the fourth Russian vessel struck in the Caspian Sea during May 2026. On May 7, Ukrainian forces hit a Project 22800 Karakurt small missile ship near Kaspiysk, and on May 15 they struck a small missile ship and a minesweeper near the same location.
Other targets hit by the USF's 1st Separate Center included a strategic protected communications node of Russia's Black Sea Fleet in Myrnyi, occupied Crimea; a gathering of Russian command personnel in Shakhtarsk, occupied Donetsk Oblast; and port cranes used for occupation logistics in Berdiansk, occupied Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
The 414th "Madyar's Birds" brigade struck a Tor-M2 air defense system in Zakhidne, Luhansk Oblast; a fuel and lubricants train in Fedorivka, Donetsk Oblast; telecommunications towers in occupied Zaporizhzhia Oblast; and a Russian command post with the "Phoenix" border unit in Bunge, occupied Donetsk Oblast.
The 412th "Nemesis" brigade hit a drone control point and an unmanned-systems logistics depot in Selydove, occupied Donetsk Oblast. The 413rd "Raid" regiment struck a command post of Russia's 9th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade in Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast.
Separately, Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) reported strikes on air defenses and infrastructure at the Belbek military airfield in occupied Crimea. The targets included a Pantsir-S2 system, a hangar holding a radar for an S-400 system, control systems for Orion and Forpost drones, a ground-to-air data point, a control tower, and another hangar.
