Ukraine's General Staff began tracking ground robotic complexes as a separate line in its daily losses ledger in May. The cumulative count of destroyed ground robotic complexes stood at 1,306 in early May. The new category reflects the rise of unmanned ground combat on both sides, with the 3rd Army Corps under Andrii Biletsky projecting that 30% of its infantry could be replaced by robotic systems by the end of 2026.
In a separate major development, Ukraine struck a major Russian fuel terminal on the Gulf of Finland and a military components plant in Tambov Oblast during the night of June 2-3. Residents reported loud explosions and a large fire across the port area of Saint Petersburg shortly after 04:00 local time. The strike landed roughly 17 kilometers from the Expoforum complex, where the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) was held. Russian President Vladimir Putin was scheduled to deliver a speech at SPIEF.
