Türkiye generated a record TL 33.05 billion (approximately $727.7 million in current prices) in revenue from airspace usage fees in 2025, a 53% increase from TL 21.59 billion in 2024, according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency (AA) from the 2025 Activity Report of the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI).

The fees are collected from airspace users for facilities and services in line with rules of the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol), of which Türkiye is a member. Eurocontrol member states prepare an annual cost base covering personnel costs, other current expenses, depreciation, and capital costs; airspace users are charged based on this cost for navigation services, representing reimbursement for Türkiye's expenditures.

Türkiye ranked sixth among 42 Eurocontrol member countries in the national cost base size index and second in airspace demand. The country also provided the highest number of service units in European airspace in November and December 2025 and January 2026, breaking its own monthly record.

The growth rate in service units in Türkiye reached 9.3% in 2025, outpacing the 5.5% average across Eurocontrol members. The total number of service units in Türkiye reached approximately 21.87 million at the end of 2025. The record was attributed to rising domestic demand, strong infrastructure and human resources, as well as the country's geopolitical position and its role as an air traffic corridor on the East-West axis.
