LR official Othman Nasrou blames judicial inefficiency in Lyhanna case, backs Retailleau for 2027

Othman Nasrou, secretary general of Les Républicains and vice-president of the Île-de-France regional council, said on Franceinfo on June 6 that failures in the Lyhanna case stem from organizational and procedural inefficiency, not a lack of resources. The body of the 11-year-old girl, missing since May 29 in the Gers, was found Thursday in an agricultural silo; the main suspect, Jérôme Barella, has been charged and jailed. Nasrou also voiced support for Bruno Retailleau's presidential candidacy in 2027.

Othman Nasrou, secretary general of Les Républicains and vice-president of the Île-de-France regional council, said on Saturday that failures in the handling of the Lyhanna case stem from organizational and procedural inefficiency, not a lack of resources, and voiced support for Bruno Retailleau's presidential candidacy in 2027.

Nasrou was a guest on Franceinfo's "8h30 franceinfo" program on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The body of 11-year-old Lyhanna, missing since May 29 in the Gers, was found Thursday in an agricultural silo. The main suspect, Jérôme Barella, has been charged and jailed.

À l'évidence, oui," Nasrou said, as the justice system faces scrutiny over its handling of the suspect, who had been the subject of multiple reports and complaints. Nasrou said there are "beaucoup de choses à corriger" in the judiciary.

But for the LR official, the issue is not budgetary.
