Thailand cuts off suspicious border communications and network signals
On [month and day], the Thai government held a cabinet meeting to further discuss measures against telecom fraud. At the post-meeting press conference, Prime Minister Phethongtarn stated that the Thai government places high importance on combating telecom fraud crimes and consistently maintains a "never-ending" stance.
Paetongtarn stated that recently, the Thai government has made positive progress in combating cross-border crimes with relevant countries and has repatriated individuals involved. At the same time, Thailand will continue to strengthen cooperation and dialogue with China and Myanmar to effectively address the issue of telecom fraud.
Paetongtarn also mentioned that multiple Thai departments have collaborated with telecommunications companies to sever suspicious communication and internet signals in border areas. To further enhance cross-border cooperation, Paetongtarn will travel to Sa Kaeo Province in the east this Friday to conduct on-site research into telecom fraud issues and deepen collaboration with the Cambodian government to advance joint crackdown operations.
On the same day, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Puttan also reported at the cabinet meeting that border control efforts in the Mae Sot region of Thailand had achieved phased results, with some individuals involved in telecom fraud cases already repatriated to relevant countries. At the beginning of the month, Thailand will also hold trilateral talks with China and Myanmar to further discuss cooperation in combating telecom fraud operations.
Last week, at the Thailand-Myanmar border, Thai military personnel and police received Chinese nationals suspected of telecom fraud from the Myanmar side in the Myawaddy region for repatriation. The group has now been escorted back to China.
