"AI+" Spurs New Industry Transformations—Observations from Visits to Multiple Regions in Central and Western China
Steel mills are equipping their converters with "sharp eyes," hospital assistants are beginning to "perform their duties," and workshop "quality inspectors" are achieving precise quality control... Reporters recently discovered during visits to various locations in the central and western regions that industrial transformation driven by "AI+" is accelerating, planting the seeds of change across a myriad of industries.
Looking at applications, new scenarios are continuously emerging.
At the steelmaking plant of Guangxi Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd., "steelmaking" has further enhanced production efficiency. In the past, workers had to rely on experience to "judge the steel by observing the fire," which was largely influenced by individual experience and posed certain risks. Nowadays, through various probes and algorithms, information such as flame color, shape, and brightness can be captured and analyzed in real-time, accurately guiding material input and production.
"We translate manual experience into digital language, which, with its assistance, not only reduces losses caused by human misjudgment but also produces better steel with a smaller amount of input materials," said Lu Zhijian, a technical expert at the Guangxi Steel Plant.
The scope can also extend from the steel-sparking workshops to the life-saving hospitals. Recently, Chongqing University's Affiliated Three Gorges Hospital introduced a large model base and launched a locally deployed large model application. "By entering the patient's chief complaints, medical history, and other information into the system and clicking 'disease analysis', the large model can be directly invoked," said Zhang Jianming, director of the Cardiovascular Department at Three Gorges Hospital. The responses provided by the large model include possible disease hypotheses for the patient and recommended examination items, making it a valuable assistant for doctors in treating and saving lives.
The "China New Generation Artificial Intelligence Technology Industry Development Report" indicates that the development and commercial application of large models have created conditions for "diffusion" on a larger scale and in broader fields. Industrial innovation scenarios are beginning to emerge in the central and western regions, jointly promoting the development of China's industries. "The era of technology-led transformative development in productivity has arrived," said Tan Hao, Deputy Director of the Frontier Technology Division at the Hunan Provincial Department of Science and Technology.
Seeking Development: New Industries Flourish and Rise
Turning, pacing, running... In a petrochemical plant, a well-trained "special operations dog" can not only deftly avoid obstacles but also pause briefly in front of each oil tank to remotely scan data such as the liquid level and pressure inside the tank, automatically analyzing whether there are any safety hazards.

This is an explosion-proof quadruped robot developed by Qiteng Robotics Co., Ltd., located in the Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing. According to the company's director, compared to the traditional industrial robot's combination of "fixed programs + mechanical arms," this intelligent robot features "multi-modal perception + brain decision-making" capabilities, enabling it to adapt to more complex and variable environments.
"Artificial intelligence is not only driving technological iterations but also the reconstruction of the industrial ecosystem," said Wang Xiaolin, Director of the New Generation Information Technology Research Institute at the Guangxi Academy of Sciences. She noted that emerging industries related to artificial intelligence are unleashing vigorous momentum.
In Hunan, the autonomous mining trucks developed by Xidi Zhijia have achieved higher transportation efficiency than manual operations in multiple mining areas, accelerating the shift towards smarter and greener mine operations. Meanwhile, Wanxing Technology has created the "Sky Screen" large model for the audio-visual field, enabling content creators to quickly generate high-definition creative videos simply by inputting text. Its software and services have already reached numerous countries and regions.
In Guangxi, the robotic microbial detection platform developed by Pingezhizao has enhanced work efficiency by .% through the "human-supervised experiments + machine execution" model. The Liuzhou Ubtech Robotics Super Smart Factory project is accelerating its construction and will produce robots for industrial service scenarios and consumer-grade products in the future. "Currently, the new district is home to smart terminal enterprises such as Ubtech Robotics. The next step is to continue breaking through barriers and accelerate the formation of an industrial development landscape led by multiple leading backbone enterprises," said a relevant official from the Management Committee of the Northern Ecological New District in Liuzhou, Guangxi.
Promote Collaboration, the Entire Chain Becomes More Efficient
At the intelligent workshop of Wasion Group Co., Ltd. in Changsha, smart meters are being produced at an accelerated pace. Technology acts like a "golden thread," weaving through the entire production chain: in the design phase, the use of large models significantly enhances the efficiency of product design; in the production phase, it can predict potential faults in the production line and perform maintenance in advance, saving nearly ten thousand yuan in costs annually; in the quality inspection phase, combined with machine vision technology, it greatly improves the accuracy and efficiency of quality testing.

Lu Xinwei, a relevant person in charge of the Weisheng Group, stated that through in-depth application, the company has achieved close collaboration among various production links, enhancing the ability to optimize resource allocation. "According to calculations, after application, the company's per capita production efficiency has increased by more than %, and the product production cycle has been shortened by %."
Today, technology is deeply embedded in many aspects of the industrial chain. Western Chuangyuan Zhixing Technology (Chongqing) Co., Ltd. focuses on automotive professional large model platforms and application technologies. The intelligent cockpit voice interaction testing system released annually has for the first time achieved "testing with use," saving % of testing time and labor costs. Guangxi Meisida Engineering Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd. has implemented "cloud inspections" for crushers in African mines through a remote diagnostic system, reducing after-sales costs by %.
"The data chain is the value chain," Wang Xiaolin stated frankly. By breaking traditional production models with efficient data processing and intelligent decision-making capabilities, it promotes information exchange and collaborative innovation, making the industrial chain system more open and flexible, thereby injecting strong momentum into industrial development.
