British Prime Minister Starmer stated that the UK is prepared to send troops to Ukraine if necessary. In a signed article published on the website of the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, Starmer wrote: "The UK is ready to take a leading role in accelerating the security assurances for Ukraine. This includes further support for the Ukrainian military. The UK has already committed to providing at least £1 billion annually to Ukraine for the coming years. This also means that the UK is prepared and willing to deploy our own troops if necessary, to contribute to Ukraine's security assurances."

Since the escalation of the Ukraine crisis, British leaders have never publicly stated that they are considering sending troops to Ukraine. Starmer previously mentioned that British troops might participate in maintaining Ukraine's security after the Russia-Ukraine conflict ends. European leaders, including Starmer, will hold emergency talks in Paris, France, on issues including Ukraine.

In a signed article, Starmer stated that safeguarding Ukraine's security is tantamount to ensuring the security of the European continent and the United Kingdom. Europe must first strengthen its actions, including increasing defense spending to meet its own security needs. He will convey this "very clear message" to European countries during the Paris talks.

Starmer also stated, "The security guarantee from the United States is crucial for lasting peace in Europe, as only the U.S. can prevent President Putin from launching another attack." He is scheduled to meet with U.S. President Trump in the "coming days." Additionally, Ukraine must be at the negotiating table regarding Ukrainian issues.

Recently, Trump has had phone conversations with Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky, stating that the United States and Russia have agreed to "closely cooperate" on ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and will dispatch their respective teams to "immediately begin negotiations." The possibility of separate talks between the US and Russia has raised concerns in Europe about being excluded from the Ukrainian peace process.
